As usual, I have yet to pack for an impending race. For reasons beyond me, I can’t get in the “packing” mood until at least t-minus 24 hours until departure. I also have the tendency to pack light; by “light,” I mean really light. I’d prefer to walk around in a speedo and portray my European roots. Remember, I still have the euro-mullet. I also know some spanish and very limited german.

Speaking of the euro mullet, the mullet was gaining respect. That was until I went in for a trim and my usual barber was on vacation. The replacement barber wasn’t familiar with euro-mullets, so I basically have a little faux-hawk with some longer, less definitive hair in the back. I specifically asked that he not trim the hair down my neck, but he went ahead and did it anyways. I thought about not tipping since he sucked at cutting hair, but realized my hair will grow back and reconsidered.

So yeah, I was talking about packing…

I typically travel with just my bike case and a backpack and hope my essentials fit. One thing I always make room for is The Grid from Trigger Point Performance Therapy. Despite it being a foam roller, it packs away quite nicely. Being that it’s hollow, no space goes to waste since I can pack things inside it. It’s really the perfect travel companion.

Speaking of The Grid, have you not bought one yet? Seriously, what are you waiting for? Do you not like to have fresh legs after being cooped up in a plane? Or after a hard training session? Click here and treat your legs to one. Use promo code “ERICH10” and you’ll get 10% off your order.

You can thank me later.

Anyways, I doubt I’ll be near a computer much, if at all, while in the US Virgin Islands. I’m hoping to be able to post a short recap post-race, but that will likely be the extent of my blogging until I return.

Until then…
